Washington State Gov Jay Inslee on Friday introduced that he was mobilizing as much as 750 Nationwide Guardsmen to safe the state’s capitol in Olympia in the beginning of the brand new legislative session on Monday

Requested what officers are doing to organize for protests within the coming days, a spokesperson for the state Division of Public Security declined to supply particulars.  

‘We’re conscious of potential protests on Jan. 17,’ Franka Younger, the general public affairs program coordinator, wrote in an e-mail to Legislation & Order. ‘Nonetheless, we don’t share our operational plans. We’re ready to reply within the acceptable method as now we have at all times executed up to now. Our main concern will at all times be the security of everybody who works at or visits the Capitol grounds.’

In Michigan, the State Capitol Fee unanimously handed a ban on the open carry of weapons within the constructing on Monday in response to the siege in DC final week.  

‘We regularly monitor for safety threats and keep situational consciousness of what’s taking place in Michigan and throughout the nation,’ Michigan State Police spokeswoman Shanon Banner mentioned. ‘Our safety planning is fluid and changes are made as wanted, from day-to-day.’
