Facebook acquires Downpour Societal, the developers of Onward
Facebook’s Oculus branch has snatched up still another popular digital reality game programmer. On Friday, the company announced it’s gained Downpour Interactive, the studio supporting the hit multi player military simulation Onward.
“We have seen amazing success Onward around the Oculus stage for many years — early on Rift and recently on Quest,” Mike Verdu, respectively Facebook’s VP of AR / VR content,” said at a post. “Becoming part of the Oculus Studios family provides Downpour Interactive the opportunity to nurture equally the Onward community with the full aid of Oculus Studios tools, as well as from the prospective, pursue different endeavors ”
Everybody from Downpour Interactive will proceed up to the Oculus Studios team”in some capacity,” Verdu explained. In addition, he affirmed that Onward it’s still encouraged on all of the platforms at which it’s now available: the Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, along with Steam.
Dante Buckley, creator and CEO of Downpour Interactive, said in a FAQ on the studio web site that Onward’s feature road map”remains unchanged” and the studio intends to”quicken the rate of our evolution” as of the acquisition. Downpour Interactive may even continue to maintain”full control of most creation,” he explained.

The purchase is Facebook’s latest to beef-up Oculus Studios. The business bought Conquer Saber developer be at Games at November 20-19, Asgard’s Wrath manufacturer Sanzaru Games at February 20 20, also Lone Echo founder Ready in Dawn at June 20 20.
