To remove a stuck earring back, also known as a clutch, cleanse hands with antibacterial soap and apply petroleum jelly to the back of the earring. Once it has been greased, grasp the front of the earring firmly while turning the clutch to loosen it.
If rotating the clutch does not loosen it, try gently wriggling it back and forth to realign it on the post. If the clutch is particularly difficult to grasp, hold the earring firmly and use tweezers to grasp the clutch hard to remove it from the post. Before attempting to remove the earring, wipe the piercing site with a cotton swab and a sterile solution such as hydrogen peroxide if the piercings are new.
