When sending a letter or package to someone “in care of” someone else, you must use a certain format. This format has the name of the person, the name of the person who owns the place where the mail is going, and the address.
Use the first line to name the person you want to send it to.
On the top line, write the name of the person you are sending the package to.
On the second line, write “c/o” and the name of the owner of the mailbox or house.
If you are sending something to John Doe at Jane Doe’s address, you would write: John Doe C/O Jane Doe
Fill out the address as normal.
The rest of the address should be written in the usual way, with the house number, apartment number, street name, city, state, postal or zip code, and country, if needed.
