While a Cirrus card may be used at any MasterCard, Maestro, or Cirrus ATM, in the United States, these ATMs are often operated by a collaborating financial institution. If the financial institution that runs an ATM is different from the financial institution that issued the Cirrus card, it may levy fees in order to use the ATM. To avoid these ATM fees, Cirrus clients can pick the financial institution that issued the Cirrus card when using MasterCard’s ATM locator in order to find the nearest ATM operated by that financial institution.
Any ATM costs that are linked with the use of a Cirrus card in the United States are established by the operator of the ATM, not by MasterCard. All ATM fees must be disclosed to the user, and the user is then given the opportunity to cancel the transaction without incurring any fees.
