To reset the combination on a Sentry safe, open the door, delete the existing codes, press the PROG or P key, and enter the factory code. Last, enter a new five-digit number, which is the new user combination, based on your own preferences.
When the door to a Sentry safe is open, it is always a good idea to change the combination. This keeps the user from getting locked out. Type the five-digit factory code given in the owner’s manual to open the Sentry safe door. This code from the factory can’t be changed.
On newer models of the safe, press the P button to get rid of the codes that are already there. Then, type the factory code into the safe and then type “00000” after it. Press the PROG button and type the factory code twice on older Sentry safes.
After deleting the old codes, press the PROG or P key and then enter the factory code again. Type a new five-digit number, which is the new user code, within five seconds. To make sure the user code works, type it again and then close the safe’s door. The user code is the main way to get into the safe, and users can change it whenever they want.
