Katie said they dated once they competed in the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships some moons past. 

‘We dated when I was 20. Max was from the NZ group and that I had been at the Australian group,’ Katie advised Daily Mail Australia on Monday.

She clarified have stayed friends after finishing their longdistance dating after less than 1 year.

New Zealand-born Max climbed up from Kiama, NSW before moving to Queensland at a youthful age.
