Patty Jenkins lands new Star Wars film ‘ Rogue Squadron’
“Marvel Girl” director Patty Jenkins’ subsequent undertaking will take her to a galaxy far, distant.
Jenkins will helm the following installment of George Lucas’ iconic intergalactic franchise, “Star Wars: Rogue Squadron,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed Thursday.
The announcement was made throughout Disney Investor Day, based on Leisure Weekly.
Rogue Squadron will “introduce a brand new technology of Star Wars pilots as they earn their wings and threat their lives in a boundary-pushing high-speed thrill journey,” Kennedy mentioned of the upcoming film.
Within the Star Wars universe, Rogue Squadron is the group of rebels that Luke Skywalker joined on the finish of “A New Hope,” named after the group of people that sacrificed themselves to accumulate the Demise Star plans in “Rogue One.”
Jenkins, who would be the first girl to direct a Star Wars function movie, introduced her involvement within the undertaking by filming a Twitter video outlining a number of private the reason why she needed to be concerned within the undertaking.
Together with “Rogue Squadron,” Lucasfilm introduced a derivative starring “The Clone Wars” and “The Mandalorian” character Ashoka Tano, performed by Rosario Dawson. Hayden Christensen may also revive his function as Anakin Skywalker (and later, Darth Vader) within the upcoming “Obi-wan Kenobi” sequence on Disney Plus.
The tentative date for Rouge Squadron to fly into theaters is Christmas 2023.
