The exact reason for the divorce is not known, but Michael Waltrip has said that his mentor Dale Earnhardt’s death in a racing accident at the 2001 Daytona 500, where Waltrip was a driver, played a role. In his book “In the Blink of an Eye: Dale, Daytona, and the Day that Changed Everything,” he talks about the event and says he never dealt with it or went to therapy. As of July 2015, Adam Hawthorne is married to Buffy.
