Most of the time, a 70-inch LED TV is about 61 inches tall and 34.25 inches wide. Most HDTVs have a 16:9 aspect ratio. The advertised TV size is the diagonal distance between two opposite corners of the TV.
The diagonal distance between two TV corners is always greater than the TV’s height or width.
If both TVs have the same aspect ratio, a TV that is twice as big across has more than four times the total viewing area of a TV that is half as big across. A 50-inch TV is about half the size of a 70-inch TV.
