Nabisco has discontinued various kinds of cookies throughout the years, including certain flavours of Newtons and distinct brands such as Cookie Breaks, Swiss Creme Cookies and Kettle Cookies. As July 2015, more than a dozen different Nabisco cookie varieties had been removed off the Hometown Favorites website.
Nabisco, short for the National Biscuit Co., is most famous for cookies such as Oreos and Fig Newtons. In 1792, the company had its start as a bakery in Massachusetts, producing and marketing a type of biscuits known as “pilot bread” for use on ships. Pilot bread is no longer available.
Classic candies like the Fig Newton have endured and thrived because of the devotion of its fans. The firm has tried out a variety of novel cookie and cracker varieties, some of which have since been axed. For instance, blueberry, apple, cranberry, and cherry Newtons are no longer available. Cookies such as the Butter Cookie, Cookie Break Cookie, Giggles Vanilla Sandwich Cookie, Kettle Cookie, Melody Cookie, Snaps Cookie, Swiss Creme Cookie, and T.J. Bearwich Cookie were introduced but later phased out.
Nabisco also made wafers, which were among the company’s earliest snack offerings. In 2015, savoury chips and crackers such the Brown Edge Wafer, Cheese Tidbits, Flings, Sip & Chip Snack Crackers, and Tuna Twists were removed off shelves.
