Omnipoint Communications Incorporated was a former telecommunications company that merged with other companies to become what is now known as T-Mobile. The corporate name has resurrected due to fraudulent calls all around the country whose numbers are listed as “Omnipoint Communications, Inc.” in New York.
In the year 2000, Omnipoint Communications Incorporated amalgamated with another communications firm named VoiceStream. The new firm went through a few more ownership changes and acquisitions until July of 2002, when it eventually became T-Mobile.
Omnipoint Communications has a terrible reputation on the internet, with countless negative reviews and testimonials posted everywhere you look. Although the company does not truly even exist anymore, consumers around the nation have claimed that they got scam phone calls and text messages that ask for personal information from from multiple numbers, all of which are identified as Omnipoint Communications Inc. in New York. Often, people report the callers as having foreign accents, which has led some to conclude that the calls are coming from overseas. T-Mobile has declared publicly that they have no association with the calls and that they do not know who is making the calls or where they are originating from.
