National advertising typically comprises of compelling words and visuals used to promote things to a national audience. National advertising is also utilised by presidential campaigns and large nonprofit organisations to send persuasive messages to their target audiences.

National advertisers place advertisements on broadcast television and radio, in newspapers, magazines, billboards, and the Internet. National advertising is typically reserved for major, well-funded groups due to its high cost. Large national advertisers include McDonald’s and Taco Bell, Coke and Pepsi, and Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble. Successful national advertisements can transcend advertising and become cultural icons.
