All people who are eligible for MassHealth get vision benefits, such as eye exams, free eyeglasses, and contact lenses. Members of MassHealth Essential are the only ones who can’t do this.
MassHealth pays for eye care for people of all ages who are eligible. The rule that you had to be under 21 is no longer in place. Some of these services include exams, ophthalmic materials like complete eyeglasses or parts of eyeglasses, the work that goes into giving out these materials, some contact lenses, and other tools that help people see, like magnifiers. If a person isn’t sure what type of membership they have, they can look at the Plan Type header on their Network Health membership ID card. Members of MassHealth Essential who use Network Health Together as their managed care provider can get discounts on eyeglass frames and lenses and get $30 back on plastic lenses.
