Tintin and his dog Snowy go on adventures together in a comic series by the Belgian artist Herge. In the original series, Snowy is called Milou, which was the artist’s first girlfriend’s nickname.
Snowy is a white fox terrier. Herge has said that he chose this breed because it was popular when the comic was made. The artist also got ideas from a cafe he went to often, where the owner was very proud of his fox terrier.
At first in the series, Snowy and Tintin can talk to each other directly. Over time, though, other main characters have been added, and the terrier’s speaking role has been replaced by a comedic one that doesn’t involve words.
