The photo and fingerprints of a worker are on the TWIC, which stands for Transportation Worker Identification Credential. The Maritime Transportation Security Act says that TWIC cards are given to anyone who can go into facilities and ships without being accompanied. This includes longshoremen, people who work in port facilities, truck drivers, and merchant marines who have credentials from the Coast Guard. Most TWIC cards are good for five years as of 2015.
